About us

Program for Suicide Prevention Research

The primary aim of the Danish Research Institute for Suicide Prevention (DRISP) is to promote suicide prevention through research-based studies, dissemination, and implementation. DRISP conducts evidence-based research, monitors the development of suicide attempts and suicides in Denmark, and develops educational materials for suicide prevention. Additionally, DRISP oversees the implementation of initiatives within the national action plan for suicide prevention in Denmark.

Suicide is rarely caused by a single factor but is often the result of a combination of multiple circumstances, which may be related to social, psychological, psychiatric, physical, or even biological factors. Therefore, research aimed at understanding and preventing suicide should seek to address several of these factors.
