I work with suicide prevention from an interdisciplinary and practice-oriented perspective, with a particular focus on young people and school-based interventions. My work draws on both quantitative and qualitative methods and includes evaluations of universal prevention programs, including Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM), among Danish school students.
I am especially interested in how early interventions can promote well-being, reduce stigma, and strengthen help-seeking behavior among young people. Through my research, I aim to bridge preventive public health initiatives and psychiatric practice to reduce self-harm and suicide attempts. In addition, I draw on experience from previous research in which I worked extensively with patient-reported outcome measures. This has provided me with a solid methodological understanding of user perspectives and the measurement of health outcomes—competencies that I now apply in prevention research among children and adolescents.
