Research interests

I have been dedicated to research on suicide prevention since 1999. My main research focus has been population-based studies using register data and examining suicide risk in association with stressful life events, such as diagnosis of a serious illness, as well as among socially stigmatized and marginalized groups, such as sexual minority groups, bereaved by suicide, asylum-seekers, people in prison and homeless. In addition, I am involved in interventions where we examine whether tools, such as online-based therapy and psychoeducation help people with suicide thoughts and their relatives. My research interests also cover means restriction and involvement of people with lived experiences into efforts of suicide prevention efforts.
